On June 15, 2012, Paraguay hosted, under the SummIT 2012 Paraguay, the XXV Board of Directors of ALETI. This is an Assembly that gathers the delegates of the Information and Communication Technologies Industry of Iberoamerica. The XXV edition was notable for having an active participation of all members who renewed their commitment to the region.

The SummIT took place on June 13-14 and was a milestone in the political and technological history of Paraguay. It was attended by the Vice President of that time, Dr. Federico Franco, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Francisco Rivas, the Coordinator @ LIS 2 of ECLAC, Mr. Mario Castillo and the host, the President of the local chamber CiSOFT, David Ocampos Negreiros.

The contribution of ALETI was of high level and showed the experience in different areas that will enrich local policies and actions:

  • Legal Framework for Development and Public Policies
  • Innovation, the blood of ICT companies
  • International Cooperation
  • Digital development
  • Green and Smart Strategy
  • Appropriation of ICT for employment generation and povertyreduction

  • Promotion of ICT Education

Also, a meeting of the Working Group eLAC2015 of Software was held in paralell.

An IT Industry Barometer was also presented

Supported by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Salvadoran Association of Information Technology Enterprises (ASETI) developed its relaunch event to IT sector members, partners, cooperating institutions and educational institutions nationwide.

The event was chaired by Leonel Hernandez, President of ASETI, Juergen Popp, Director of Sustainable Economic Development in Central America DESCA of the GIZ, Pablo Durán, President of Unión MYPYMES; Silvia Cuellar, Executive Director of COEXPORT, Mauricio Quiñónez , President of IEEE.

ASETI was founded in 2006 under the name of Exsource Group, and in 2012 restates its objectives to promote the development of companies.

ICT doubled their market value in 6 years

Mexico City, June 21, 2012 – The Information Technology Industry is one of the fastest growing sectors in Mexican economy, reaching an average rate of 15% from 2006 to 2011, said, the Mexican Association of Information Technologies Industry (AMITI).

During the 2012 Assembly, AMITI’s president Juan Alberto Gonzalez, appointed that between 2005 and 2011 the market value has been duplicated, and by the end of December 2011 , closed with profits for 18, 279 million dollars.

Gonzalez also highlighted that for the next five years from 2011 to 2015, Select (Mexican specialized consultant organization) projected an annual growth of 10%. Three times above the expected increase in the same period for the country's GDP (Gross domestic product).
